Almost all people will boldly profess to believe in the so-called golden rule or some derivative thereof: Treat people how you want to be treated.
Almost nobody actually gives a shit about the golden rule when it comes to religion or government. “My God can kill babies and allow child sex slavery if he wants because he’s God!” “The government has to take taxes by violent force or everything would fall apart! Sorry you have no money, but that’s just how it is and you MUST!” In other words, murder and theft are bad, except when I say they are not. Then you must follow what I say.
I can’t think of a better definition of hallucinating oneself to be an omnipotent god and presuming to literally own other humans, than this.
Look how different the voluntaryist position is: I do not own anyone else, and they are free to do what they want, as long as they are not violating me, and vice versa.
