We’re taught to not

hit or steal

to rarely hate and never kill

but the quickest kids soon learn the drill

in politics it’s fine.

We’re taught to be

always on guard

to read the good book, and study hard

and the ones that do this come to find

the rape and murder in the lines.

If they’re innocent it matters not

If God says kill, you do, no thought

But the serious kids soon grow to see

this God’s just a sickening fantasy

created by those too weak to be free

And politics and this god mix

one and the same and the parlor tricks

No longer impress me when I hear the noise

of a thousand shouting girls and boys

that should have grown up long ago

but they’re stuck confusing death for hope
