BigV x Nite Owl Works – ‘Get the Memo’ – 2025

What a treat it’s been to work on this song over the past month or so. Recorded at a top-secret location in Voluntary Japan, the concept is the brainchild of my good friend V from the Tokyo Bitcoin Cash Meetup, and the songwriting and music/production was done by myself and the Nite Owl Works crew.

“Get the Memo” is all about the dangers of living without thinking. At first innocuous and sometimes innocent, doing what everyone else does “just because” doesn’t seem dangerous. It’s fun and engenders a sense of belonging and safety we all yearn for and in many ways need… But taken to its fullest conclusion, the toxic side of this unthinking conformity is that it results in ineffably horrific realities coming to pass.

So the real memo? THINK FOR YOURSELF. (Full lyrics to “Get the Memo” below)

Also released (on the same double release) is the song “Velma” in honor of the upcoming BCH Bliss 2025 conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, celebrating the May 2025 Bitcoin Cash network upgrade. Permissionless money is critical to economic freedom, and a way of life that is NOT THE SLAVERY CURRENTLY BEING FORCED ON US.

VELMA! She’s all over the world! She’s my BCH girl!

LYRICS TO ‘GET THE MEMO’:

Corporate is calling to remind you

Pay no attention to the sense inside you

Did you get the memo? (Did you get the memo?)

All the Tokyo girls read the fashion magazines

Memo! Leather jackets. DON’T USE SLEEVES.

They got the memo (They got the memo)

Zombies stagger, lobotomized

Lookin’ at their phones they don’t use their eyes

They got the memo (Play dumb games and go home/no hope)

Oh, what fun! Don’t use my mind!

I got the memo, I’m feeling fine!

DID YOU GET THE MEMO FOR YOURSELF!?

Fear the sun, and fear the sky

Put a mask on your face until you die

Get the memo (Nature is the devil)

Inject the poison, catch an SDG

It’s not genocide if they side with me

They got the memo (Human grace is evil/To embrace this evil)

Oh my God! A fake disease!

Look at me, my fetish is quarantine

Elon, Daddy! Come save me please!

Chop off my d*ck and give me technocracy

I got the memo, I’m feelin’ great!

I got the memo

Feels so good to fit in

Feel sorry for you

You’re out of fashion

Don’t talk back

I have all the right opinions and I hate you

Are you lonely?

I don’t give a f*ck

You’re not human…

This is the song of my life. I love this more than any song. It is beautiful. I have had it on repeat play since the minute I heard it at 3:30am on Tue until now (Saturday!). Play on headphones, or good speakers loud to get the full extent of the high fidelity atmosphere, complete with sound energy, that induce such deep moving feelings. It is so dark, yet uplifting, so familiar yet fresh with bursting ideas that were simultaneously just behind my eyeballs and yet deep within the corners of my mind, which this song has enabled to be released out into the open. It’s encapsulates the frustration of seeing loved ones, friends and family bound up, tied down and gagged by a lifetime of “learning” from the memos they’ve absorbed from school, state, friends and family, society and from which they can’t escape. The frustration of being viewed as the crackpot nut-job for trying to help others to gently unwind, unlearn the messages of those deeply ingrained memos. The song is so moving, as the music slowly drifts off towards the ending of the soul, the life support machine flat-lining as a lifetime of voices loop around in the mind. Also I love that happy-clappy whistle-y part with the jolly melody just before the darkness sets in. It’s reminiscent of Radiohead’s Just, with their almost comical Hawaiian beach music section in the middle of what is otherwise a heavy rock track. I love the intro, the rhythm, base, all so tight! The screech of the memo coming in by fax is just gorgeous – is this the reincarnation of Big Audio Dynamite meets David Bowie? The outro is Floyd-esque which your other commenter picked up on, and has a tremendous sense of atmosphere and incredibly produced sense of liberation like the spirit being liberated from the body or something spiritual. There’s a nod here to Lazarus by Bowie too. The complete change of tempo and style works beautifully and reminds me of When the Time Comes by BAD.

“Get the Memo”, together with “Velma”, are two beautiful songs work so well together. These tunes will forever accompany my soul! Good job Nite Owl Works – big love…

Lonely indeed. Thanks for the muse and concept and suggestions, which inspired the music! Which made me feel a lot less lonely! I am so happy this song is out into the open air now. Has been a blast collab’ing with you, man!
